Betty L. Harms
Roanoke- Betty L. Harms, 82, of Roanoke passed away at 11:40p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2011 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.
She was born on July 26, 1929 in Minonk, IL a daughter of Albert and Ruby Rufing Kelsey. She married Eldon J. Harms on May 7, 1950 at Minonk United Methodist Church where the wedding was the first in the new church. He survives.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda(Dave) Kerler of East Peoria, IL; Sue Harms-Nixon of Decatur, IL; one son, Paul(Kathy) Harms of Benson; four grandchildren, Courtney Kerler, Jessica(Vance) Kirby, Melissa Harms, William “Willie” Harms; two step grandchildren, Katie (Burly) Stutzman, Meredith(Aaron) Bogner; three step great grandchildren, Carley, Alexis, Alex.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents.
She was a Homemaker.
She was a charter member of Yankee Town Home Extension for 61 years, Roanoke United Methodist Church where she was active with the Methodist Women and a 4H Leader.
Betty loved to play cards and loved to garden.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Roanoke United Methodist Church. Rev. Ken Sloan-Couch and Rev. Dick Piscatelli will officiate. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 from 4-7p.m. at Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke and also one hour before services on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Clayton Township Cemetery in Benson. Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke is handling funeral arrangements.
