To the Endress family: Hank was a long time friend and uncle-in-law. I enjoyed listening to him and his brothers talk about the good-ole-days of farm life and watching them pick corn by hand at the state corn huskers competitions. It was amazing to see how active Hank was in his 80's and 90's. He lived a humble life and has been an inspiration to all of us. I will certainly miss him.

Too the Endress-family, please accept our condolences. My mom and dad considered Hank (and Lillian) to be the best of friends. He was a very sharing person (i.e. inviting friends/kids to watch the first tv and color tv in the area), providing jobs for teens and living a life of giving and caring.

Hi, You all have my sympathy! I remember "Hank" and Lillian from my "First National Bank of Peoria" farm management days. I always enjoyed meeting with Hank at their house on the Aitchison farm. Hank was always nice to me and always had a cup of coffee to offer. I remember when Hank told me that he would be glad when he turned 80 years old. I couldn't understand until I asked him why. He said that 80 would put him in another Corn Husker class and there wasn't as much competition in that class! I'm sure he is husking corn today in a whole new class! My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family. Hank will be missed!

Family: Another of the great old men has passed. I have known Hank all of my life and I am very thankful for that. He is one of the last, that I allowed, to call me Bobby, which he did for my entire life. He will be sorely missed at church where he sat in the same pew every Sunday,in that same ramp-rod straight position always. A fine gentleman who will be missed. Blessings to all of his fine family, of which he was so proud.

No words can express how empty our home has been with out Hank's smiling face, or joyful laughter. I met Hank 2 years ago when I started as the nurse at Courtyard. He was coming back from a hospital stay when I first came here. He melted my heart with the first hand shake. I then took over as the director, and I have seen this man almost on a daily basis. He has made me smile, and laugh. I brought my boys in to work one day, and my oldest son thought he met an icon. He was amazed with all the trophies and accomplishments Hank had throughout his years. He spent all day in Hank's room. They talked, well my 12 year old talked and asked question after question. I heard about this for weeks after. He fell in love with Hank and thought he was the coolest man he ever met. He then had a school project to write about someone famous. My son wrote about Clarence "Hank" Endress! He wrote about how Hank was the corn husking champ and he explained in detail how hard this was to accomplish. He was so excited, he wanted me to bring Hank for show and tell on that day. Me and Hank laughed. Hank did give me a picture of him in 1938 breaking the unofficail record. The class was amazed that my son knew someone who lived in 1938. Broke my heart this last Monday when I had to go home and tell him that his icon had moved on to a better home. We were sitting at the dinner table and I told him and he was upset. But he looked at me with tears in his eyes and stated "this is just our temporary home & bodies mom" he is in a better place. Kids are so innocent and charming and make you smile. I wanted to share with the family, that in just 2 years Hank has touched my life. I could only imagine having this great man in my life for 98 years. I am truly sorry for your Loss. Hank was a great man, we will miss him dearly here.I will miss having to call Jerry and have him come down and straighten Hank out. I will also miss Debbie, she was a Daddy's girl.. Broke my heart to see her cry the day he passed.

I met you Dad before I met Bill - Jean I am so gtateful for how your family took me in and made me feel so at home. Bill and I feel privileged to have know Hank. He was a friend to all. He even let me ride on the corn picker one year. Bill remembers him introducing him to peanut butter and bologna sandwiches. I remember, too, the fun times we had at you home - New Years Eve Parties cards all night breakfast in the morning. Hank had a great sense of humor and he was always interested in everyone. We send your family our love and sympathy in your loss of a very special man.
