David L. Knapp
Eureka- David L. Knapp, 65, of
Eureka, IL passed away at 11:28 pm on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at
OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.
The son of Maurice and Helen
Leuthold Knapp, Dave was born on November 20, 1946 in Peoria, IL.
He married Carol Beth Wulf on February 14, 1971 in rural Hills,
Minnesota. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters,
Krista (Chad) Hancock of Tremont, IL; Gini (Cory) Gerber of Secor,
IL; Mary Beth (George) Garza of Morton, IL; one son, Daniel Knapp
of Eureka, IL; his mother, Helen Knapp of Roanoke, IL; one sister,
Barbara (Dave) Rankin of Eureka, IL; seven grandchildren whom he
thought the world of, Hope and Abby Hancock; Wyatt and Jesse
Gerber; River, Ava, and Alayna Garza.
He was preceded in death by his
father.
A veteran of the Marine Corps, Dave
served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the
Roanoke American Legion Post #463.
Dave was a union bricklayer for 30
years just recently retiring. He enjoyed practicing his trade all
over the United States. He also farmed in Woodford County. He was a
member of the Bricklayer's Union Local #6 in Peoria.
Known for his sense of humor and a
pun for every occasion, Dave had a lifelong love of music and was
known for entertaining with his harmonica and guitar. His grandkids
were the love of his life and he enjoyed sharing his love of music
with them.
He was a member of Roanoke Apostolic
Christian Church where funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on
Saturday, January 7, 2012. Church ministers will officiate.
Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 4-7 pm at
Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke and from 9-9:45 am at
the church before the service. Burial will be in the Roanoke
Apostolic Christian Cemetery.

to the Roanoke Apostolic Christian Home, Timber Ridge Home in
Morton, IL, or Roanoke American Legion Post #463. Online
