Washburn- Donald L. Hattan, 74, of Washburn, IL passed away at 1:15am on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Snyder Village in Metamora, IL

He was born on May 27, 1937 in Streator, IL a son of Virgil and Frieda Ruestman Hattan. He married Sue Kawanami on February 21, 1958 in Hokkaido, Japan. She passed away on April 24, 2000.

 

Surviving is one daughter, Debra (Daniel) Barth of Washburn, IL; one son, Dennis (Joy) Hattan of Washburn, IL; five grandchildren, Michelle (Kalaab) Pickering, Kimberly Barth, Melissa Barth, Joe Hattan, Matthew Hattan, two step-grandchildren, Evan and Linnea Johnson, one great-grandchild, Tristan Pickering, and one sister, Diana (Arthur) Kolb of Benson, IL.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

 

An Army veteran, Donald served his country with the United States Army.

 

He worked as a farmer in the Washburn area all of his life.

 

Donald was a lifelong member of the Marshall County Farm Bureau and the Future Farmers of America.

 

He was a member of the St. Paul's United Church of Christ where funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 17, 2011. Pastor Ed Sinclair will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 5-8pm at the Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Minonk and one hour before the service on Saturday at the church. Military rites will be accorded at the grave. Burial will be in Minonk Township Cemetery.
