Mary M. Steinen
Roanoke- Mary M. Steinen, 84, of Roanoke, IL passed away at
11:55 am on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at the Apostolic Christian
Home in Roanoke where she was a resident.
She was born on January 24, 1927 in
Hancok, MI a daughter of Joseph and Clara Payn Condon. She married
James "Jim" Steinen on June 12, 1948 in Hancock, MI. He
survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Robert
(Sue) Steinen of Abingdon, MD; Thomas (Kathy) Steinen of Little
Rock, AR; two daughters, Barbara (Chris) Kolber of Wadsworth, IL;
Karen (Rohn) Peterson of Roanoke, IL; brothers and sister-in-laws
Tom (Dorothy) Condon of Toivola, MI; Jack (Maureen) Condon of
Hancock, MI; ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren with one
due in February 2012; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her
parents.
Mary and Jim started their married
life in Hancock, MI while Jim attended Michigan Tech University on
the GI bill. She was a supportive wife to her beloved husband, Jim,
always ready to move where his jobs took them (Springfield, IL;
Chicago, IL; Pittsburgh, PA; Cape Elizabeth, ME) and when they
retired to sunny Florida (New Port Richey and Iverness).
She was devoted to her children and
grandchildren. She enjoyed playing bridge, crocheting, and taking
long walks. As her Alzheimer's got worse, she depended more and
more on the loving care of her husband. They moved to Roanoke, IL
in October of 2009 where she entered the nursing home for more
care. Jim saw her daily, loving her to the very end.
A memorial service for Mary is
planned at 11 am on Saturday January 7, 2012 at
Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke. Monsignor Charles
Bebee will officiate. Visitation will be from 10-11 am before the
services at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded and
burial of ashes will be in Roanoke Township Cemetery.

to the Good Samaritan Fund at the Apstolic Christian Home of
