Angeline M. Barnes, 88, of Sparland, Illinois, formerly Benson, died on September 7, 2021 at Lacon Rehab and Nursing in Lacon Illinois. Born in Benson, Illinois, to the late Ralph and Marie Gensler Gries, she married John “Tom” Barnes June 11, 1960 in Camp Grove, Illinois. He survives.
Angie graduated from Saint Francis College of Nursing, and for over 40 years was a nurse in various doctor’s offices, hospitals, and nursing homes in the area. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Angie was an avid reader and often painted in her spare time. She enjoyed travel, especially back to Michigan. Together with Tom she built a life surrounded by her many friends and family, and she will be dearly missed.
Angie is survived by her children Cathy (Ronald) Baker of Manistee, Michigan, Michael (Susan) Barnes of Woodland Park, Colorado, Patricia (David) Williams of Canton, Susan Barnes of Sparland; brother Louis (Eulonda) Gries of Sparland; nine grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held for Angie from 4 to 6 on Friday, September 10, at Lenz Memorial Home in Lacon. A funeral mass will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church in Lacon on Saturday, September 11 at 11 AM with burial following in Saint Dominic Cemetery in Rural Wyoming, Illinois. Memorials can be left for masses at her church or Lacon Sparland Ambulance. Online condolences can be left at lenzmemorialhome.com
