Mary A. Kemnitz, 86, of Varna died at 8:00 pm on January 21, 2015 at Heartland Healthcare in Henry. Born on March 17, 1928 to the late Walter and Ethel Nielson Lundberg in Tonica, she graduated John Swaney High School in 1946 and from Illinois State University in 1949. After graduation she married William Kemnitz in McNabb on August 13, 1949.
Mary worked many interesting jobs as a teacher, a seamstress, and supervisor of the Employee Cafeteria at Marshall Fields. Her talented hands kept clothes repaired and embroidered artwork created. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Mary was a member of St Paul's Lutheran Church in Varna and the Lutheran Women's Mission Group.
Mary is survived by her husband William, her son Michael (Lorna) Kemnitz of Virden; daughter Debra (Charles) Beatty of Merritt Island, FL; and granddaughters Amanda and Angelica.
Services will be held on Saturday January 24 at 11:00 am at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Varna with a visitation one hour prior. Burial will be in the St. Paul's Cemetery. Memorials can be made to her church. Online condolences can be left at lenzmemorialhome.com
