Mary Morris

Mary E. Morris, 96, of Lacon IL, died on Thursday, November 25 at home, surrounded by her family. Born in Peoria Illinois to the late Clyde “Mick” and Pearl “Sis” Crouse on August 16, 1925, she married Gerald ”Skeets” Morris on August 28, 1948 in Lacon. Skeets died on December 24, 1960.

Mary worked at BF Goodrich in Henry, retiring April 1, 1984. After retirement she volunteered at various organizations she enjoyed around town. She was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Lacon. Mary loved to read and bake, always sending baked goods to family friends and neighbors.

Mary is survived by her two daughters Carol Morris and Patty (Darrell) Bestold both of Lacon; Daughter-in-law Rose Morris of Grayson GA; grandchildren Kris (Mackenzie) Bestold of Lake Geneva WI, Josh (Lynn) Bestold of Bettendorf IA, Mandy (Pepe) Estupinan of Buford GA, Jonna (Brian) Martin of Buford GA, James “Skeets” (Whitney) Morris of Acworth GA; 12 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. she was also preceded in death by her son Bill Morris and sisters Gloria Erkmann and Patty Brown.

Cremation rights have been accorded and a family burial will be at a later date in the Lacon Cemetery. Memorials in Mary’s name can be given to the Lacon library and online condolences can be left at lenzmemorialhome.com
