Sparland – With deepest sorrow, we announce that Ronald D. Kingsley ”Ron”, age 67, our most beloved son, father, brother, family member, and friend passed away suddenly on Friday, May 13, 2022, at his home in Sparland.
He was born April 1, 1955, in Keosauqua, IA, the son of Marian James and the late Richard D. Kingsley. Ronald married Dixie L. Ohlman on February 23, 1988, in Davenport, Iowa. She preceded him in death on May 31, 2010.
He is survived by his daughter, Brandy (Scott) Wehr of Henry, Il, and his two grandsons, Matthew and Zachary Wehr. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Darlene Kumpf (Lyman Kimble), Barbara (Stephen) Kingsley DeAmbrose, Jeffrey D. Kingsley, and Janet Bailey along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ronald retired from the Central Laborers’ Union in 2016.
He was an avid motorcyclist who loved riding and repairing vintage BSAs. He loved racing motorcycles, fishing, and hunting. He was a member of the Chief Blackhawk Antique Motorcycle Club in Davenport, Iowa. He was a past member of the Chillicothe Sportsman Club, a past Sparland Village Board Member, and a past volunteer at the Lacon Food Pantry.
His proudest accomplishment was spearheading efforts to organize volunteers to make Frank Park in Sparland a reality. He and fellow Sparland Board trustee Dave Murphy were instrumental in constructing the playground.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial tribute will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2022, from 1 – 3 p.m., at the Peoria Casting Club in Chillicothe, IL.
