Bernice B" Ditchen

August 24, 1910 — May 11, 2014

Bloomington - Bernice R. "Grandma
B" Ditchen, , passed away at 5:32 p.m. on Sunday, May 11, 2014 at
OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.

Her funeral will be at 12 noon on
Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in
Bloomington.  Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. - 12
noon,  prior to the service at the memorial home on
Thursday.

Interment will be at East Lawn
Memorial Gardens in Bloomington.  Memorials may be made to
Robin's Nest Children's Home or Alzheimer's
Association.

Bernice was born on August 24, 1910
in Pontiac, IL,  a daughter to Robert Charles and Lila Belle
Nichelson Bohm.  She married Anthony C. "Tony" Ditchen on June
3, 1929 in Decatur.  He preceded her in death on June 6,
1981.

She is survived by a granddaughter,
Gayle (Rick) Heckelman, Bloomington; four great grandchildren,
Samantha Ploense (Mark Cassell) of Bloomington and Christina (Troy)
Campbell of Bloomington, Kasey Heckelman of Bloomington, Nick
(Kristina) Heckelman of Edwardsville; and four great great
grandchildren, Joseph, Matthew, Makayla and Gabriella.

In addition to her husband, Tony,
she is preceded in death by, her parents; a daughter, Betty Jean
Ploense; son in-law, Eugene Ploense; grandson, Michael Ploense; 2
sisters and a brother, Phillip Bohm.

Bernice attended Bloomington High
School.  She worked at Livingston's Dept. Store and was a
bookkeeper at State Farm for several years.

She renewed her drivers license at
the age of 100 years!  She loved to play bingo, enjoyed trips
to Arizona and Las Vegas and enjoyed fishing in Wisconsin.

"Grandma B" was very involved with
her grandchildren, from each of the generations, they spent a lot
of time with her.  She was very active in all the
grandchildren's activities and was a huge part of their
lives.  Family meant everything to "Grandma B", beginning with
her daughter, through three generations of grandchildren.

She will be greatly missed by
family and friends.
