Betty M. Bittner

Bloomington - Betty M. Bittner, 87,
of Mercy Creek in Normal, formerly of Bloomington, passed away on
Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at 12:38 a.m. at OSF St. Joseph Medical
Center in Bloomington.

Funeral services will be held at
11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 11, 2013 at Good Shepherd Lutheran
Church in Bloomington with Pastor Chad Lueck officiating.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the
church.  Interment will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in
Bloomington.  Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in
Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Portico
Fund.

Betty was born on February 7, 1926
in Bloomington, a daughter of John and Anna Schramm Gielow.
She married Victor W. Bittner on April 21, 1946 at Trinity Lutheran
Church in Bloomington.  He preceded her in death on June 12,
2013.

Surviving are one daughter, Jane
(Sam) Redding, Lincoln; one son, Timothy (Patricia) Bittner,
Bloomington; one sister, Marilyn Bonebrake, Bloomington; six
grandchildren, Becky (Doug) Domkuski, Towanda, John (Tammy) Redding
and Tom (Brittany) Redding, both of Castle Rock, CO, Cari (Nathan)
Rohlfs, Emden, Bart (Amanda) Bittner, Heyworth, Kelly (Jeff)
Cramer, Mahomet, 18 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces,
nephews and many dear friends.

In addition to her husband, Victor,
she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Joan L.
Robinson.

Betty was a graduate of Bloomington
High School.  She and Victor were married upon his return from
serving his country in World War II.  They were lifelong
partners in the family farm operation along with her son, Tim and
grandson, Bart.

She was a member and office holder
of the Unit 5 PTA.  She was a girls 4-H leader, a member of
the Old Town Community Club, the Old Town Mother's Club and a
member of the McLean County Farm Bureau.  She was a strong
advocate for her children's education and their Christian
values.

Betty lived each day to the
fullest. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be
truly missed by all of her family and friends who were her greatest
blessings.  She and Victor were proud to be charter members of
Good Shepherd Lutheran Church where she was involved in many
capacities.  Her church family has been a great gift in her
life.
