Charles Downey

Charles W. Downey Jr, 63, of rural Lacon, died on November 13, 2017 at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton. Born in Peoria on February 24, 1954 to Charles and Lillian "Sue" Pearson Downey, he married Rosalla Kuhl on February 7, 1981 in Henry.
Charlie was a mechanic for Strong oil and in later years freelancing in engine repair in tractor restoration. He loved building model cars and collecting antique tractors and their models. He was a member of the Marshall Putnam Antique Tractor Association, Marshall Putnam Pork Producers, and a volunteer fireman for Lacon Sparland Fire Department for 15 years.
He is survived by his wife Rose; mother Lillian "Sue" of Lacon; son Matt of Lacon; siblings Robert (Christine) Downey, Sarah (Larry) Bogner, Jerry Downey, Audrey Downey, and Beth (Steve) Ashmore all of Lacon; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.
Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 6 PM at Lenz Memorial Home in Lacon. Cremation rights will be accorded and a private family burial will be at a later date.
