Edward J. Moran

Edward J. Moran, age 85, of Varna, was born in Chicago on April 9, 1937, and passed away July 20, 2022. Ed was the admired son of the late Rosemary (Burke) and the late Edward Moran. He was the faithful husband of Carol (Taylor) Moran, whom he married on October 1, 1982. Ed was the loving father of Kelly (Daniel) Rys, and a cherished grandfather to Charlotte, Oliver, Claire, and Owen Rys. He was a dear brother to Thomas Moran, Sheila (Patrick) Crotty, Michael (Helen) Moran, and devoted brother to Patrick (Joan) Moran who precedes him in death. Ed is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Fast Eddie as he was commonly known as, spent over 30 years on the road as a truck driver. He had memorable time spent at Braun Dairy, Jolliff Trucking, and J&T Transport. You could always count on Ed for a story from the past and a quick-witted joke. He loved the Chicago Bears, being Irish, Wisconsin and Minnesota fishing trips, his dogs, and his family.

Funeral services for Ed will begin at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 23 at Lenz Memorial Home in Lacon with visitation from 1-2pm before the service. Burial will be in the Salem #2 Cemetery north of Varna. Memorial contributions can be made to the Varna Fire Department, and online condolences can be left at lenzmemorialhome.com
