Gale Warner

Gale B. Warner, 96, of Henry, passed away at Unity Point Proctor on December 9, 2017, in Peoria. Gale was born at home in Henry on March 6, 1921 to the late Ray Myrick and Lena Austin Warner. He married Audrey McAllister in a military wedding on September 25, 1943 in Palacios, TX; she preceeded him in death on February 20, 1987.
Gale is survived by one daughter, Lynne Jenks of Henry, son-in-law Joseph Frauenhoffer of Peoria; six grandchildren: Shelley Jenks of Carol Stream, Angie (Adam) Arnold of Sycamore, Brad (Sarah) Jenks of Chicago, Amber (Manny) Ortiz of Wheaton, Chris Frauenhoffer of Peoria, Matt (Stacie) Frauenhoffer of Peoria; great grandchildren Emily, Ryan, Elia, Elijah, Josiah, Chuntierria, Khia, Deon, & Mckenzie; sister-in-law Dorothy McAllister of Lacon; two special friends Dolores Fountain of Henry and Bill Heath of Henry; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Wayne, who died in Europe during WW II, and one daughter, Pam.
As a young man Gale first worked at Kroger owned by Mr. Chance in Henry. He then took a job at Bill Barry‘s grocery store working for Mr. Tindall in the meat department. After he returned from over three years of military service in the US Army medical detachment in the Pacific, he was offered a position at M&D Printing, where he worked for 40 years as a pressman printing the Henry News Republican and other publications.
Gale was a member of Henry United Presbyterian Church and served in many capacities there. He was a longtime member of city government, serving as Treasurer for eight years, Alderman for four years, Mayor for four years, on the Citizens Advisory Council, and on the Zoning Board of Appeals. He then served as Township Supervisor for 16 years.
Gale enjoyed collecting old wall telephones and other antique items. He also enjoyed going to auctions and was always interested in finding historical items from Henry.
Services will be at Henry United Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, December 13 at 11 AM with a visitation from 4 to 6 on Tuesday and one hour prior to service, all at the church. Burial will follow at the Henry Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded. Memorials may be made to MSW Senior Meals or Henry American Legion, and online condolences may be expressed at lenzmemorialhome.com
