Gary Wilcox

March 30, 1966 — April 24, 2014

Gary Wilcox, 48,  of
Bloomington, peacefully passed away at his home surrounded by his
loving family and lifelong friends on the evening of Thursday,
April 24, 2014, after a yearlong courageous battle with
neuroendocrine carcinoma.

In his last few months, it was his
priority to assure his family would be taken care of in the future.
During this precious time, Gary purposely spent individual time
with each person he loved.

Gary was the ultimate outdoorsman
and a skilled taxidermist whose passion was hunting, fishing, and
communing with nature.  One of his favorite pastimes was to
take a drive around Lake Evergreen to spot deer and turkeys.

Visitation will be held at 10:00
A.M , on Tuesday, April  29, 2014 at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman
Memorial Home in Bloomington, Illinois. His funeral will be held at
noon also at the memorial home.  Interment will be at Hopewell
Cemetery in Downs, Illinois. Memorials may be made to OSF
Hospice or Community Cancer Center both in Normal, Illinois.

Gary was born in Bloomington,
Illinois on March 30, 1966.  He graduated from University High
School in 1984.  He lived the majority of his life in his
hometown, but he also resided in Florida for many years.  Gary
had a diverse work background.  The job he enjoyed the most
was at WSI in
Naples, Florida where he spent 11 years as a heavy equipment
operator and dispatcher.

Gary is survived by his mother,
Linda Wilcox, Bloomington, Illinois; brother, John Wilcox, Naples,
Florida; sister, Becky Meredith, LeRoy,
Illinois; grandson, Jaylen Hayes, Bloomington, Illinois; nieces,
Brittany Wilcox and Hillary Gardella and great-nieces, June and
Nora, all of Naples,
Florida; and grandmother, Virginia Kletz, LeRoy, Illinois.
Gary also leaves many cousins, aunts, and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his
wife, Sonja Wilcox; father, Gary Wilcox; maternal grandfather,
Robert Kletz; and paternal grandparents Clarence
and Marguerite Wilcox.

Gary was a humble and gentle giant
who greeted everyone with a beautiful smile and a kind word.
Gary always stated, "Family is everything."  He
loved them all, and knows that they loved him, and nothing can
take that away.

He gave so much in this life and
expected so very little in return.
