Gloria Ann Burleson

Gloria Ann Burleson, 91, went home to be with Jesus on June 17, 2023 at Lacon Rehab and Nursing, surrounded by her family. She was born on October 4, 1931 to the late Edward and Lottie (Werkhoven) Burleson and had four older brothers, Robert, William, John, and Kenneth. She lived in Midlothian for most of her life.

Gloria was a Registered Nurse at Cook County Hospital for over 40 years and became one of the first members of Lake Wildwood in 1970. She loved to sit outside on the porch and watch the wildlife while at the lake. She helped her brother Ken run the concession stand at the lake for many years.

At the age of 50, she was given the opportunity to adopt a baby girl, becoming the one thing she always wanted to be, a mother. Later, she went on to adopt five more children through foster parenting. She even got to help raise two bonus children years later that she loved as her own. Gloria had the biggest heart and a deep love for all of her children. She had a smile that would light up the room. Gloria will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Even though she’s gone, she will never be forgotten.

Gloria is survived by her children Amanda (Robert) Franks of Lacon, Jasmine Burleson of Midlothian, Adrian Burleson of Minonk, Anthony Burleson of Midlothian, Mary Burleson of Midlothian, Christina Burleson of Utica, Angel Olsen of Midlothian, Crystal Olson of Midlothian; grandchildren Mikel, Owen, Emma, Braylen, Rian, and Cassie. She was also preceded in death by her four Brothers.
