Harold Munson Sales
Eureka-Harold Munson Sales, 90, of Eureka, IL formerly of
East Peoria and Adair, IL passed away at 12:02 a.m. on
Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Maple Lawn Health Center in Eureka,
He was born on September 21, 1922 in Rushville, IL a
son of Harold K. and Roxanna Trimmer Sales. He married N. Roliene
Hayes on February 16, 1944 in Peoria, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Elaine(Claude)
Mott of Florida; Joyce Delaney of East Peoria; Carol(Michael)
Martin of Fox Lake, IL; three sons, Norman(Marianne) Sales of East
Peoria; Edwin(Janice) Sales of Marquette Heights; Jerry(Ann) Sales
of Eureka; son-in-law, Dean Bidle of Virginia; 14 grandchildren; 19
great grandchildren; two brothers, Van Sales of Peoria;
Roger(Nancy) Sales of Eureka; one sister, Barbara Bennett of
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Joetta
Bidle, two sisters, Joyce Hazlerigg, Joanna Lester and three
brothers, Freddie, Vernon and Dr. Steve Sales.
Harold was a member of Peoria First Church of the
Brethren for over 60 years serving in many capacities. He was also
a member of American Legion Post #26 in Vermont, IL.
Harold enjoyed all sports, especially bowling.
Gardening was his therapy. In the 1960's he owned Sales Body
Building and Health Studio in Peoria; one of the first in the area.
Harold pursued several occupations including factory work, farming,
owner-operator of several filling stations, and the trucking
industry in which he spent twenty-five years. He retired from
Northshore trucking in 1979.
After retiring Harold and Roliene did volunteer
disaster work resulting in becoming associate members of the Cedar
Creek Church of the Brethren at Citronelle, AL and spending twenty-
eight winters in the area.
A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, April
20, 2013 at First Church of the Brethren 4714 N. Sheridan Road
Peoria, IL 61614. Pastor Dana McNeil will officiate. Visitation
will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Eureka will be handling
arrangements. Harold donated his body to medical science: " That
the deceased may teach the living."
