Harriet Junker

VARNA - Harriet Junker, 87, of Varna passed away at Heartland Healthcare in Henry, Illinois on March 12, 2017. Born to the late Elmer and Hattie Carlson Flesburg on October 16, 1929 in Roberts Township, IL she married Arnold Junker on September 21, 1951 in Varna.

Harriet was a member of Saint Paul's Lutheran Church. She was a hairdresser in Bloomington and then Varna. After marriage she was a full time homemaker. Church and family were important parts of Harriet's life, especially enjoying her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed baking, most notably her renowned cinnamon rolls. Harriet also liked cheering for the Chicago Cubs.

She is survived by: her loving husband Arnold; children Janean Gardner of Varna; Curtis (Terry) Junker of Varna; Kathleen (Kenneth) Andrews of Washington; Stephanie (Kirk) Anderson of Roanoke; sister in law Ida Mae Flesburg of Neenah, WI; grandchildren Elizabeth (Andy) Cockerill, Michael (Nicole) Gardner, Matthew (Amy) Junker, Karl (Erin) Junker, Brittney (Ryan) Moutray, Allison (Tyler) Jason, Jonathan (Shera) Andrews, Jackie (Adam) Knepp, Christopher (Jessica) Anderson; great grandchildren Gibson, Ethan, Madison, Owen, Kane, August, Cyrus, Morgan, Emma, Henry, George and William.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers and son-in-law, Ivan Gardner.

Services will be held on Friday, March 17 at 11 am at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Varna with Rev. Peter Glock officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Thursday at the church and one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Saint Paul's Cemetery and memorials can be left to her church or Varna Ambulance.
