Harvey L. Harms, 89, of Roanoke, passed away at 7:20
p.m., Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Apostolic Christian Home of
Roanoke.
He was born January 30, 1925 in Roanoke to Eilert and
Ella (Uebler) Harms. He married Nancy Motley on January 23,
1954 in Springfield, IL. She survives.
Also surviving is one son Henry (Terri) Harms of
Springfield, IL; two daughters, Shelly (Tom) Barth of Minonk, IL,
Eileen (Brian) Harner of Normal, IL; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Harvey owned and operated the family farm his entire life.
He also worked in the area as a welder for many years retiring with
Kapraun Welding in Benson in the 1980's.
Harvey was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in rural
Benson as was very active in serving the church.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday,
April 5, 2014 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Benson. Pastor
William Hecht will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7
p.m., Friday at Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke and
one half hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Burial will be in St. Peter Lutheran Church Cemetery.
