Helen Harms

Helen E. Harms of Heritage Healthcare Chillicothe died on May 4th at 2:05pm at Unity Point Methodist in Peoria. She was born to the late Charles and Mary Baker Leffingwell in Weston, IL on November 6, 1917. Helen married Kenneth Vermilyea on January 20, 1940 and later married Edward Harms on November 23, 1963. Both gentlemen preceded her. She worked for Vernon Henry Construction for 30 years, retiring in 1985.

Helen is survived by: her son Ronald (Linda) Vermilyea of Streator; daughters Margaret (late Jim) Van Ness of Lacon & Deborah (Ed) Rose of Bakersfield CA; brother Herschel (Imogene) Leffingwell of Fairbury; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren.

She was also preceded by 3 brothers and 2 grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11am Monday May 11 at the Magnolia Cemetery in Magnolia IL, Pastor Dan Smith officiating. Memorials can be made in her name to the Activity Fund at Heritage Healthcare in Chilli. Online condolences can be left at lenzmemorialhome.com
