Jean T. Campbell, 99, of Peoria, formerly LaPrairie, died on January 2, 2019 at Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. Born on August 27, 1919 in Peoria to the late Robert and Ruth Stowell Turnbull, she was educated in local schools and Peoria High. She graduated from Monmouth College in 1940 where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma social sorority and a member of the Peoria alums. Jean married Charles Campbell on September 5, 1940 in her parents' home near Speer. They were married 69 years. Charles passed away on March 16, 2011. She taught school in Viola & Princeville, Illinois and Washington, Pennsylvania. Jean was a member of LaPrairie United Presbyterian Church of Sparland the Women's Society. She was a volunteer at Proctor Hospital for many years.
She is survived by four children: Sue Jones of Pasadena, CA, Ruth Rankin of Loudonville, NY, William (Amanda) Campbell of Peoria, Ann (Joseph) Sienkiel of Georgetown, TX; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother Howard.
Cremation rights have been accorded and a memorial service will be held on a later date at the LaPrairie United Presbyterian Church in rural Sparland. Burial will be in the LaPrairie Cemetery on May 26 at 2pm with visitation time from 1-2pm. Memorials can be made to Lutheran Hillside Village Foundation or the Richard L. Owens Hospice Home.
