John Strawn

John W. Strawn, 75, of Eureka, formerly Lacon, died on September 12, 2019 while maintaining the Strawn Family Cemetery. Born on January 14, 1944 to the late Ralph and Frankie Marie Mote Strawn, he married V. Donna McCarley on September 20, 1963 in Peoria.
John spent 36 years at Caterpillar as a research technician and 24 years driving the school buses for the Midland and Mid County school district in Marshall County. He was also an EMT at Caterpillar, Lacon, Sparland and Henry community ambulances. John and his wife Donna are members of Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria. John loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He relished in the life they brought to family gatherings. John loved the Lord and believed Christ to be his Savior and spent a good share of his time sharing the Gospel with family and friends.
John is survived by: his wife Donna; daughter Kelly (Jamie Rice) of Wyoming; sons Tim (Amy) of Lacon, John (Tina) of Laura, Jody of Eureka, and William (Kim) of Eureka; siblings Linda Holocker, Sheila Martin, and Wayne (Nancy) Strawn, all of Lacon; grandchildren Leo & Dallas Strawn of Lacon, Riley (Mallory) Strawn of Princeville, Cody (Corinna) Strawn of Normal, Royal (Megan) Rice of Galva, Joel (Hannelore) Rice of Centerville UT, Ryan, Cora, Cade, & Caleb Strawn of Eureka; three great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by brother Ralph Strawn and sister Louise Strawn.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a graveside memorial service will be held on September 28, 2019 at 11 AM at the Strawn Cemetery in rural Lacon with a visiting time one hour prior to the service in the cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Peoria Rescue Ministries or Grace Presbyterian Church and online condolences can be left at lenzmemorialhome.com
