Judith C. “Judy” Carson, 83, of rural Washburn, died on February 20, 2022 at UnityPoint Methodist in Peoria. Born on the family homestead in Richland Township Marshall County Illinois to the late Franklin and Harriet (Buck) Laible, she married Duane Carson on June 14, 1958 in Lacon. Duane died on October 2, 2001.
Judy is survived by her children Christopher (Deana) Carson of Brimfield, Cindy Judd of Morton, siblings Dale Laible of Washburn, Doris Pelz of Metamora; sister in law Leta Laible of Toluca; grandchildren Oliver Judd of Lacon, Travis (Katie) Judd of Spring Lake Park MN, Aimee (Ben Berger) Judd of Spring Lake Park MN, Trevor (Chelsea) Carson of Pekin, Rachelle (Matt) Bernier of Morton, Nicole Carson of Tremont, Jake (Amy) Allen of Pekin, Kaylee Carson of Peoria; great-grandchildren Liam, Kenny, Cece, and Owen. She was also preceded in death by her sister Velda Scudder, brother Dean Laible, brother in law Stanley Pelz and children Nicholas and Constance at birth.
Judy grew up on the family farm and moved there with her husband Duane and brother Dale after the death of her parents. Married to a boilermaker who traveled for work and wedded to her farm heritage she played the role of farmwife for her bachelor brother Dale while he and brother Dean did the farming. Meals to the fields, at lunchtime in the house, errands for parts, and show mom to her kids showing Hereford cattle all over the state in their youth. Judy was a huge Illini and Cubs fan. She also enjoyed gardening and feeding her hummingbirds. Spending time with family and friends, especially her grand and great grandchildren, was Judy’s favorite love.
A funeral mass for Judy will be held on Friday, February 25 at 10 AM at Immaculate Conception Church in Lacon, Fr. John Mujuni officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday February 24 from 5 to 7 PM at Lenz Memorial Home in Lacon, with Rosary at 4:30 PM. Burial will be in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery and memorials can be made to Saint Jude or Lacon Sparland Ambulance. Online condolences can be left at lenzmemorialhome.com
