Katherine Miller

Katherine “Katie” Miller, 96, of Lacon Illinois died on March 6, 2022 at her residence.  Born to the late Charles and Gladys (Baldwin) Sharick in Lacon on September 18, 1925, Katherine married Lawrence Miller of Sparland on March 16, 1943. they were married 64 years. Larry passed away August 16, 2007.

Katie is survived by her grandsons Eric (Maria Pagel) Shanklin of Varna, Christian Shanklin of Peru, and special friend Kimmy Thomson. She was also preceded in death by her children Susan Shanklin, Larry Miller; Sisters Bonnie Bachman, Penni Holt; brother Walter Weers; and granddaughter Tracy Shanklin.

Katie loved to play golf and was a member of Washburn Snag Creek Ladies League. She was also a member of Pearce Community Center friends over 50 and a Lacon Community Center board member.  Katie loved to cook and share her food with others. She enjoyed entering craft shows with her crocheted creations.

Funeral services for Katherine will be held Saturday, March 12 at 2PM at Lenz Memorial Home with visitation 1 hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Lacon Cemetery next to her beloved husband Larry and memorials can be made to the Lacon Community Center. Online condolences can be left at lenzmemorialhome.com
