Leonard Waldschmidt

Leonard T. Waldschmidt, 93, of rural Varna IL, died on October 30, 2017 at St. Joseph's Nursing Home in Lacon born on December 10, 1923 in Metamora to the late Vitus and Gertrude Schierer Waldschmidt, he married Kathryn Bima on August 16, 1947 in Hennepin.
Leonard was a farmer and a local sheet-metal worker all his life. He farmed in the Hennepin and Varna areas. Leonard was a 70 year charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council #3060
Leonard is survived by: his wife Kathryn; children Leonard (Gay) Waldschmidt Jr. of Varna, Linda (Larry) Tonelli of Peru, Joyce Kiesewetter of Washburn, Brenda (Ron) Watkins of Lacon; sister Anna Jean (Ron) Krolak of Scottsdale AZ; 13 grandchildren; and 29 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by daughter Janice Beltramea & her husband Anthony, brothers Norbert, Julius, and Denis Waldschmidt; sisters Imelda Monge, Viola Presley, and Loretta Nauman.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, November 4 at 11 AM at Immaculate Conception Church in Lacon, Father John Mijuni officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services and memorials can be made to St. Joseph's Nursing Home, Vitas Hospice, Saint Jude, or Alzheimer's Association. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Metamora and online condolences can be left at lenzmemorialhome.com
