Lois L. Burnell, 68, of Lacon, died on April 20, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospital in Galesburg, Illinois.
Born on August 2, 1948 in Peoria to the late Louis and Marjorie Lishman Burnell she grew up in Varna, worked at Archway cookies, and as a guard at WestClox in Peru. Lois was a caring person that loved spending time with her family and her grandsons held a special place in her heart. Lois was always looking out for others and loved to walk around town talking to people and picking up trash to help keep the town clean. She had a caring heart and is loved by family and friends.
Lois is survived by: her daughter Angela (Shane) Crew and son Valentine Rosales both of Lacon; sisters Linda (Wayne) Hugget of Montello, WI; Carol (Mike) Minchew of Perryville, AR; Mary (Larry) Banta of Bloomington; Sandy Slimko of Varna; June Bishop of Bloomington; three grandsons Landon, Sean, and Jaxson Crew of Lacon; 16 nieces and nephews; and 23 great nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded by one brother Larry "Butch" Burnell, two brothers-in-law Everett Bishop & Lee Slimko, and nephew Dee Minchew.
She was also a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Cremation rights have been accorded and visitation will be held at Lenz Memorial Home on Thursday, April 27 from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. Burial will be at a later date. Memorials can be made to the family and online condolences can be left at lenzmemorialhome.com.
