Marjorie Lenz

Marjorie S. Lenz, 77, of Sparland, and formerly Lacon, died on Monday, October 27, 2015, at her home.

She was born on May 23, 1938 in Chicago to the late Marshall and Florence Pedley Smith. Surviving are her children: Andy (Lynn) Lenz of Colona; Laura (Tom) Eboli of Downers Grove; and Steve Lenz of Lacon; sister Barb (Dick) Green of Naples, FL; and grandchildren Annie, Katie, Elizabeth, Andrew and Lauren.

She was preceded in death by two infant children.

Marjorie grew up in the Beverly area of Chicago graduating from Morgan Park High School. She attended Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington majoring in art. It was there that she met Louis Lenz, her husband of 57 years. They were married at the Church of the Mediator in Beverly then moved to Lacon, Illinois the home of her husband who had joined his father in their family business, Lenz Memorial Home. She was a homemaker until she and her husband opened Lenz Furniture and Interiors in Lacon, which they operated for 25 years. She then managed the offices of World Wide Travel of Peoria, later working as a teller at Associated Bank in Lacon.

She was a member of the Lacon Congregational Church, the Lacon Junior Woman's Club and the Lacon Country Club. She was a talented artist who loved knitting, summers at Grand Beach Michigan as a child, bridge club, wild parties on Peacock Ridge, anything leopard, making rolled up pancakes and teaching "art school" to her grandchildren.

Services will be at 12:00 noon on Saturday, October 31, with visitation from 9 am-12 pm all being at Lenz Memorial Home in Lacon. Officiating will be long time family friends, Dr. Charles and Sharon Giacinto of Grace Community Church in Streator and Pastor Ross Wyman of the Lacon Congregational Church. Cremation rites will be accorded and interment of ashes will be at later date in the Lacon Cemetery.
