Marjorie Mae Palm, age 86, of 510 Adams Street, Varna passed away at 4:30 p.m. Monday, May 2, 2016 at Advocate Eureka Hospital in Eureka, Illinois.
She was born on October 18, 1929 in rural Lostant to Raymond J. and Emily Lock Shawback. She married Lloyd E. Palm on January 27, 1949 in Lostant. He preceded her in death in 2009.
She is survived by three sons; Steve (Karen) Palm of Des Moines, Iowa; Jeff (Kathy) Palm of Wenona; and Scott (Lisa) Palm of rural Varna; one daughter, Angie (Bob) Crank of rural Toluca; 10 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Marilyn (Art) Schafer of rural Tonica.
Her parents and one brother, Richard Shawback, preceded her in death.
Together with her husband, Marge farmed and was a homemaker all of her life. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was active in the Varna United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She enjoyed roller-skating, collecting ladybug figurines, reading, and was an avid letter writer. Her happiest moments were when her family was together.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the Varna United Methodist Church. Pastor Mike Barclay will officiate.
