Lacon- Marvin P. Knodel, 79, of Lacon, IL passed away at 9:30 am
on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at his residence in
Lacon.



He was born on August 25, 1933 in Mitchell, SD the son of the late
John H. and Elma Triebwasser Knodel.  He married Janet Baldwin
on September 6, 1959 in Lacon, IL.  She passed away on January
3, 1998.



Surviving are one son, John Knodel of Lacon, IL; two sisters,
Carol (Ron) Boss of Hasienda Heights, CA; Belva (Murray) Woulfe of
Barstow, CA; and one sister-in-law, Betty Knodel of Armour, SD.


He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Melody
Ann.



Marvin had worked for Cargill in South Dakota for 17
years.


He served in the Navy after WWII and was a member of a group of
men who constructed the Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor.
Marvin belonged to the Lacon American Legion, Chillicothe VFW, and
the Scotland South Dakota Legion.


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 15, 2013
at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Varna, IL.  Rev. Peter Glock
will officiate.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the
service at the church.  Burial will be in Lacon
Cemetery.  Lenz Memorial Home is assisting the family with
their arrangements.
