Mary Guede

Mary Fern Guede, 100, of Lacon died on April 15, 2015 at 6:26 am at St. Joseph's Nursing Home in Lacon. Born on January 12, 1915 to the late Henry and Mary Weaver Gauwitz, she married Albert Guede in Henry on August 22, 1945. Albert passed away on July 22, 2013.

Mary is survived by: her daughters Geri (the late Paul) Lea of Belleville, IL; Ginger (Daniel) Rentfro of East Peoria; her sons Charles (Reggie) & Emiel (Cindy) both of Chillicothe; Art (Claire) of Metamora; 19 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and close family friend Bill (Anita) Kenyon of Lacon. She was also preceded in death by her two sons, James and Don.

Mary and Albert loved to travel. They had an RV and covered the US and Mexico in a span of 25 years during their retirement. Mary was a loving mother who enjoyed her home, gardening, children and grandchildren all her life. She supported her husband Albert in Scouting and his many other endeavors for many years. Mary was the matriarch of her family. We have lost a family treasure.

Services at Lenz Memorial Home will be held on Saturday, April 18 at 1:00 pm with a visitation held one hour prior. Entombment will be in the Lacon Mausoleum. Memorials can be made to St. Joseph's Nursing Home. Online condolences can be left at lenzmemorialhome.com.
