Bloomington-Maurine Asbury, 82,
passed away Tuesday, (March 26, 2013) at Heritage Health in
Bloomington.
The family will greet friends at
Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington on Monday, April
1, 2013 from 1:30-3 p.m. Interment will be at Funks Grove Cemetery
in McLean.
Maurine was born Aug. 18, 1930, to
parents Russell and Louise (Dunlap) Gaddis of Danvers. She married
C. Eugene Asbury on February 3, 1952, in Bloomington. He preceded
her in death Nov. 17, 2012.
Maurine was raised on a farm
southwest of Danvers and attended a one-room elementary school. She
graduated from Danvers High School in 1948 where she was a member
of the Girls Sextet Chorus and 4-H Club.
After completing schooling in
Danvers, she was employed by State Farm Insurance where she was a
member of the State Farm Chorus. She left State Farm to become a
homemaker, Girl Scout leader, talented seamstress and raise three
children. She worked part time in the Gailey Eye wing at Mennonite
Hospital.
Surviving are one sister, Doris
Kuppersmith, Bloomington; three children, Valera Asbury (Michael
Monahan), Bloomington; Pamela Asbury (Jeff Swan), Denver, Colorado
and Daryl Asbury, Fish Creek, Wisconsin. There are six
grandchildren, Nina Asbury and Jay Asbury, North Carolina; Virginia
Asbury, Tennessee; Dylen Swan of Colorado; Kean Monahan and Kerri
Monahan, Bloomington, and one great grandson, Hudson Asbury, North
Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her
parents and one sister, Marjorie Gordish.
Maurine was a member of St. Luke
Union Church, KodaRoamers camera club and H.I. Club. She
volunteered many years for the BroMenn Mobile Meals program. She
traveled with her husband to many states and 11 foreign
countries.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may
be made to St. Luke Union Church of Bloomington. The family would
like to thank Maurine's caregivers for their wonderful support and
care.
