Nellie F. Crew, 78 of Oglesby and formerly of Varna, Illinois left the physical world on July 23, 2015 to walk with her husband Warren & son Robert once again.
Services will be held at Lenz Funeral in Lacon on Monday, July 27th at 11 am. Visitation will be from 10am until time of the service. Officiating the service will be Pastor Mike Barclay and Kelly Larimar. Burial will be at Salem Lutheran Cemetery #2 in rural Varna.
Nellie was born on July 26, 1936 in Ripley, MS to LeRoy & Virginia Besinger. She married Warren Crew on May 31, 1952 in Varna, IL. Nellie retired from the Chillicothe Police Department as a Dispatcher in 2001. Nellie also worked as a guard at Lake Wildwood. She was a member of the Varna Methodist Church.
Nellie was survived by one son Randall (Lori) Crew of Oglesby, one brother Tom (Lynn) Lewis of Varna, 5 grandchildren Stacy (Jeff) Schott of Braidwood, Shane (Angela) Crew of Lacon, Amanda (Travis) Yetter of Varna, Amanda (Dustin) Kohr of Oglesby & Sarah (Travis) Pelphrey of Lacon and 7 great grandchildren Alyson & Derek Schott, Landon, Sean & Jaxon Crew, Shelby Crew & Lily Pelphrey.
Nellie loved watching baseball, reading and collecting cook books, but most of all spending time with her family & friends. Nellie never met a stranger. She loved to cook & bake and always thought of others first. Nellie will be greatly missed by all.
Nellie was preceded in death by her husband Warren in 2005, one son Robert in 2005, her sister Patricia Norwood in 2011, her parents, her step mother & numerous brothers & sister-in laws.
Memorials may be directed to her son Randall Crew to help with her expenses.
