Norm Crook

November 2, 1956 — June 23, 2015

Norman D. Crook, 58, of Lacon died on June 23 at 7:34 am at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Born on November 2, 1956 in Spring Valley to Alford and Helen Kitts Crook, he married Diane Clegg in Streator on Sept. 18, 1982.

Norm was employed at the Marshall County Highway Department, working his way to Supervisor. He kept our roads open and highways repaired for forty years.

He is survived by: his wife Diane; mother Helen Crook of Lacon; son Andrew Crook of Urbana; daughter Stephanie Crook of Lacon; sisters Marsha Lindstrom and Kathy (Steve) Thierer both of Lacon; brother Doug Crook of Lacon; 4 nephews and one niece.

Norm was preceded in death by his father and parents-in-law.

Norm was a talented woodcarver who utilized meticulous research to make his duck decoy, songbird, and Santa Claus carvings accurate. He liked to spend his time outdoors enjoying biking, kayaking, hiking, and cross-country skiing. He was a patient, kind, and dedicated father. His friends and family will miss his quiet wit and dry sense of humor.

Cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 27 at 11 am at Lenz Memorial in Lacon with a visitation from 5-7 pm on Friday at Lenz. Burial of ashes will be in the Lacon Cemetery.
