Norma J. Stroup, 92, of Henry died on September 24, 2015 at 10:20 pm at her daughter's residence.
Born on July 4, 1923 in Henry to the late Fred and Grace Maubach Klein, she married Charles Stroup on November 29, 1945 in Lacon. Charlie passed away on October 14, 1991.
Norma worked at Murphy's Market in Henry and did housekeeping in Henry for many years. She was a member of St. Mary's Church in Henry, Alter & Rosary Society and Daughters of Isabella.
Norma loved her family, friends, and faith. Her life was spent working hard and caring for those in need. She loved watching her grandchildren & great grandchildren participate in sporting events and sharing her knowledge of sewing, canning, & needlework with others. Norma, along with her dear friend Marie Smith Pierson, had spent the last 28 years going weekly to Heartland Nursing Home in Henry to bring devotions in faith services for all to enjoy. She had a warm heart, a smiling face, & much compassion to spread. Norma was loved by many & we will miss her dearly. We are all so thankful for the life she shared with us.
Norma is survived by her daughters Nancy (Rich) Gaffney of Bloomington, Susan Onyun , Connie (Dan) Pagan, Peggy (Jerry) Mattson, all of Peoria, Vicky (John) Herrick of Henry, Kate (Jerry) Oltman of Putnam; brother Merle (Mary) Klein of Rome; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren; and 3 step great great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, two sisters, two brothers, and two sons in law.
A Mass will be held at St. Mary's Church in Henry on Tuesday, September 29 at 11 am, Father Ron Enderlin officiating. Visitation hours will be Monday from 5-7 pm and one hour prior to Mass also at St. Mary's. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Henry. Lenz Memorial Home in Lacon is assisting the family.
