Phyllis N. Dunagan of Lake Wildwood, Varna, IL and formerly of Homewood, IL died on Monday, June 8, 2020 at her residence. Phyllis was born in Palatine, IL on October 12, 1938 to the late Philip and Helen (nee Garwys) Patterson. She married David D. Dunagan DDS on June 22, 1963 in Chicago.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, David; two sons: David P. (Nadine) Dunagan of Chicago and Michael Dunagan of Berwyn; two daughters: Diane (Gary) Thomas of Palatine and Nancy Dunagan of Berwyn; three brothers: Philip (Mary) Patterson of Silver Springs, MD, John (Marie) Patterson of Whitewater, WI and Chris (Connie) Patterson of Aurora, CO; four grandchildren: Sean, Brendan, Leah and Joseph Dunagan.
As a newlywed married to a dentist Phyllis managed the household meticulously. She was a past president of the Homewood PTA and past president of the Flossmoor Chapter of Lyric Opera of Chicago. Phyllis was on the board of the Illinois Arts Council, served many other civic organizations and was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church when she lived in Homewood.
Phyllis and David were early lot owners at Lake Wildwood where they enjoyed sharing recreational time with their children and grandchildren on a regular basis. They enjoyed it so much they built a home and relocated to Lake Wildwood upon retirement.
When Phyllis and David moved to Lake Wildwood, she became a member of Saint John XXIII Catholic Parish, the Daughters of Isabella, the Varna Women's Club and the Illinois Valley Herb Guild. She was a committee member of the Lake Wildwood Sunbeam newspaper and served as recording secretary for the Board of Directors at Lake Wildwood.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 15, 2020 at Immaculate Conception Church in Lacon, IL. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to Mass. Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, IL.
