Ruth Park

February 7, 1913 — April 8, 2014

Ruth M. Park, 101, of Minonk, IL passed away at 1:23 pm on
Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Heritage Health in
Minonk.


She was born February 7, 1913 in rural Minonk a daughter of
Henry and Christina Gerner Barth. She married Raymond A. Park on
August 22, 1933 at St. Paul's in Minonk.  He passed away on
September 6, 1987.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Ronald
and Richard; one son-in-law, Jack Wagner; one brother, six
sisters, two granddaughters and  three great
grandchildren.

Surviving are her daughter, Bonnie Wagner of Roanoke, IL; ten
grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, 16 great great
grandchildren and several  nieces and nephews.

Ruth went to Minonk High School and later to Illinois State
University.  She taught four years in country schools then did
substitute teaching. After marriage, Ray and Ruth farmed in the
Minonk area for many years.  Ruth worked as a cook for eight
years at Lida Nursing Home in Minonk.

Ruth was the last surviving member of a family of eight
children.  She was an active and the oldest member of St.
Paul's United Church of Christ in Minonk where she served with the
St. Paul's Ladies for many years as well as helping serve funeral
lunches or anywhere she could be of use.

She sewed hundreds of baby quilts for the "Baby Fold" in Normal
and "Aids Children" in Pontiac.

Ruth was a very selfless person who always put others needs
before hers and was there to lend a helping hand when needed.
She will be missed by her family and all who knew and loved
her.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, April 14,
2014 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Minonk. Pastor Ed
Sinclair will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30-11 am before
services at the church. Burial will be in Minonk Township
Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to her church or OSF
Hospice.
