Sandra Matthies, 69, of Lake Wildwood Varna, died on June 7, 2018 at her residence. Born in Chicago on February 28, 1949 to the late Arthur and Renata (Molinari) Glazier, she married Leonard Matthies in Chicago on January 30, 1971. Len passed away on August 2, 2017.
Sandy is survived by Ann Matthies, Debbie (Ryan) Horan, Dan (Megan) Matthies and Theresa Pimental; grandmother of Sara, Aaron, Paul, & Nathan Horan, James Matthies, and JT & Ben Pimental; dear sister of Steve (Barb) Glazier, Susan (Mike) Galowitch and James (Kim) Glazier.
Sandy was adored for her abundant love and joy. She offered wholehearted compassion to all that entered her life always having time to listen and hug loved ones. Sandy enjoyed a fun celebration in every moment of life often finding reason to dance, eat and laugh with others. She treasured all relationships bringing her authentic heart to her friends, family, children and grandchildren. Sandy was a natural nurse using her gifts to nature the spirit in all of us. She was the heart of her family.
In honor of Sandy please wear colorful attire when attending her visitation at Lenz Memorial Home in Lacon from 9 to 12 PM on Monday, June 11, with a mass of Christian burial to be held at 1 PM at Immaculate Conception Church in Lacon. Burial will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside Illinois on Tuesday. Memorial contributions can be made to a cancer research center of your choice and online condolences can be left at lenzmemorialhome.com
