Sherl E. "Chip" Webster Jr., 66, of Varna, former Sheriff of Marshall County, died on November 6, 2017 in rural Lacon. Born January 29, 1951 to the late Sherl E. and Virginia Divan Webster he married Janice Knoblauch on July 20, 1974 in Toluca.
Chip was in law-enforcement for more than 30 years. He served 12 years as Chief Deputy for Sheriff James Frawley. He then served 12 years as the Marshall County Sheriff. He was instrumental in implementing 911 in Marshall County. Chip was a member of Illinois Sheriffs' Association, former Toluca Sportsmen's Club member, former Varna little league coach, and an avid hunter & fisherman. He loved going to Texas in the winter for bass fishing and dearly loved his grandchildren.
Chip is survived by: his wife Janice; sons Mike (Julie) Webster of Seattle, WA & Matt Webster of Chillicothe; brother Ralph (Kathy) Webster of Lacon; and grandchildren Madison & Jackson.
Cremation rights have been accorded and a memorial visitation will be held Friday, November 10 from 4-7 PM at Lenz Memorial Home in Lacon. There will be a private scattering of ashes at a later date.
