Shirley Bulger

Shirley J, Bulger, 97, of Sparland Illinois, died on February 13, 2022 at UnityPoint Proctor in Peoria. Born on April 5, 1924 to the late Lyman and Alice (Nighsonger) Vincent, she married John Bulger on October 23rd 1990 in Greeley Colorado. John died on October 24, 1991.

Shirley worked as a printer for Illinois Mutual Insurance Company in Peoria. She also volunteered and worked at the Boy Scouts of America and McClure Real Estate Company in Peoria. Shirley later was a custodian for the Sparland School District with 8 years at the grade school and four years at the high school. She was a member of the Sparland Baptist Church and the Lacon Congregational Church quilters club. Shirley was also a registered clown and a member of clown organizations: World Clowns, Christian Magicians, and Class Clowns. She serves her community as an EMT on the Lacon Sparland Volunteer Ambulance for many years.

Shirley is survived by stepchildren Peggy Vashawn, Janet Brickner, and James Bolger; her nephews Bill Spicer, Don Buck, Greg Vincent, Forrest Knickerbocker, Mark Knickerbocker; nieces Elva Jean Head, Joy Wheeler, Ann Fennell; and special nephew Jerry Hubbard. She was also preceded in death by 10 sisters and three brothers.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a graveside service for Shirley will be held at a later date at the Sparland Cemetery.  Memorials can be made to the Sparland Baptist Church and online condolences can be left at lenzmemorialhome.com
