Stanley Harms

November 20, 1917 — March 25, 2013

Bloomington- Stanley Harms, 95, of
Bloomington, passed away at 4:45pm on Monday (March 25, 2013) at
Heritage Health in Normal. His funeral will be held at 10:00 am on
Saturday (March 30, 2013) at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in
Bloomington with Pastor Chad Lueck officiating .Visitation will be
from 4-7 p.m. at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home on Friday
(March 29, 2013) and a half an hour prior to the service at the
Church. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens in
Bloomington. Memorials may be made to the Good Shepherd Lutheran
Church in Bloomington.

Stanley was born November 20, 1917 in Fairbury, IL, the son of
Henry and Charlotte (Jacobs) Harms. He married Myrna Morgan on
August 18, in Anchor, IL. She preceded him in death on March 04,
2010.

He is survived by his two daughters: Diane (Keith) Cowell of
Tucson, AZ.; Jean (Roger Stone) Miller of Bloomington, IL.; a
daughter-in-law; Kathi Harms (the late Dennis Harms) Lutz FL.; five
granddaughters; Liz, Katie and Megan Townsend of Tucson, AZ.;
Jessica (Jeff) Craven of Long Beach, CA. Jennifer Harms of
Land-O-Lakes FL.; one grandson; Jon (Tracie) Harms of Cape Coral,
FL; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters; Mildred (Rufus Hayes)
Meinhold of Overland Park KA.; Joanne Rettke of Bloomington, IL.;
one brother-in-law; Paul Gleeson of Bloomington, IL; and numerous
nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife Stanley was preceded in death by his
parents; son, Dennis Harms; brother, Floyd Harms; sisters, Ruth
Meiners, Lois Gleeson, and infant sister Doris Harms.

Stanley served in the Army during World War II. He then farmed for
many years in Stanford, IL. Stanley was very active in the
community and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Danvers for
37 yrs, and has been a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church
since 1998. Upon retiring he and Myrna spent many good years at
their homes in Wisconsin and Florida, making numerous wonderful
friends.

The family would like to thank Monica Young for all her loving
care and friendship, Dr. Jaydev Jani for his wonderful
compassionate care, Dr. Bruha and the staff at Fresenius Medical
Care for their excellent care and support, OSF Health Services and
the nurses and staff at Heritage Health in Normal, for their
kindness and care. Stanley will be remembered as a kind and gentle
man, who loved his family, friends and the land.
