Stephen John Reinsch, 87, of Lacon, formerly Spring Valley and Hennepin, died on April 5, 2019 at his home. Born on February 3, 1932 to the late Stanley and Maime Picco Reinsch, he married Marilyn Marini 65 years ago on May 7, 1954 in Lasalle, she survives.
Also surviving is his sister Edith (Dr. Roger) Ewald of Monticello and nephews ED, Kurt, Richard, Steve, & Vince Ewald.
He was born, raised and eventually ran Steve's Place Tavern in Spring Valley, the tavern his great grandfather built and his family owned for over 100 years at 101 West St. Paul Street. Steve was also an ironworker for over 30 years retiring in 1980. He built J&L Steel and the Hennepin power plant while being a member of ironworker local 386 out of Lasalle. Steve's favorite pastimes were fishing, hunting, and going to the casino.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, April 11 at 11 AM at St. Joseph nursing home Chapel in Lacon with father John Mujuni officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior at the nursing home with rosary at 9:30 AM. Burial will be in Valley Memorial Park Spring Valley.
