Steve L. Weers

Stephen L. Weers, 79, of Lacon Illinois, died on November 30, 2022 at Lacon Rehab and Nursing. Born in Streator Illinois on July 15, 1943 to the late Delmar and Vera Traver Weers, he married Sue Pottinger on September 26, 1970 in Peoria.

Steve graduated from Mid County High School and joined the Operating Engineers Local 649. He spent over 45 years as an operating engineer. He was a former member of the Lacon Sparland Volunteer Fire Department and a former chief.

Steve is survived by his wife, Sue at home; son Steven Weers of Manito; daughter Robin (Darren) Brown of Lacon; grandchildren KayeLynn & Devin Brown, Vera, Johnathan, & Thomas Weers of Manito; brother Perry Weers of Lacon; sisters, Mary (Earl) Sheets of Lacon and Sara Phillips of Lake Wildwood.

Cremation rites have been accorded and memorial visitation will be held on December 17, 2022 at Lenz Memorial Home in Lacon Illinois from 10am to noon with graveside burial to follow. Memorials can be made to the Lacon Sparland Fire Department and online condolences can be left at lenzmemorialhome.com.
