Timothy W. “Tim” Cowell, 63, of Lacon Illinois, died on December 10, 2022 at Odd Fellow-Rebekah Nursing Home in Mattoon Illinois. Born in Peoria on January 18, 1959 to John P “Jack” and Ruth (Buck) Cowell he married Harriet Moline on February 28, 1992. Harriet died on June 17, 2022.

Tim grew up working for his father at Cowell’s Colonial Café in Lacon. Later, he helped his dad with the Dairy Barn Restaurant in downtown Lacon. Tim worked for over eight years at Kroger in Chillicothe in the Deli and over five years at Schnucks in Peoria.

Tim was a 1977 graduate of Lewiston high school and a 1982 graduate of Western Illinois University. He was a lover of Chicago sports teams, the fighting Illini, and any Midland High School Sport. As a first-class grandfather, he always came with treats for the kids and loved taking them fishing. He had a big sweet tooth and enjoyed a cup of coffee at any time of day.

Tim is survived by his mother Ruth Turner of Lacon; children TJ (Melinda) Cowell of Sullivan, Scott (Laura) Sutherland of Chillicothe, Stacy (Dawn) Sutherland of Henry, Katey (Andy) Eberle of Chillicothe; sisters Margie Deffenbaugh of Lacon, Amy (Tony) Sloan of Lacon, Kim Cowell-Light of Delevan, Tammy Turner of Lacon, nine grandchildren, and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his father Jack and his brothers Jim and John Cowell.

Cremation rights have been accorded and a memorial service will be held on December 17 at 2:30 PM at Lenz Memorial Home in Lacon with visitation held from 1:30 to 2:30pm before the service also at Lenz. Burial will be in the Lacon Cemetery and memorials can be made to the Midland High School Foundation. Online condolences can be left at lenzmemorialhome.com.
