Violet Carey
Eureka-Violet A. Carey, 82, of Eureka, IL passed away at
11:26p.m. on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at Maple Lawn Health Center
in Eureka.
Violet was born on October 23, 1930 in El Paso, IL a
daughter of Virgil and Irene Holt Wilkey. She married John Edward
Carey on November 16, 1957 in Secor, IL. He passed away on February
26, 1979.
Survivors include five daughters, Virginia Boston of
Carlinville, IL; Dessi (Mitch) Coyle of Heyworth, IL; Violet
Withey; Viola (Pete) Rogers; Lucy (Antal) Baksai all of Peoria, IL;
one son, Bruce (Betty) Carey of Athens, IL; six brothers, Art
(Connie) Wilkey of Secor, IL; Jim Wilkey of Eureka, IL; John (Lila)
Wilkey of East Peoria, IL; George (Ella B) Wilkey of Piper City,
IL; Charles (Rose) Wilkey of Midland, GA; D. Keith Wilkey of
Roanoke, IL; six sisters, Erma Reich of Aurora, IL; Ruth Carey
of Dekalb, IL; Clara Fisher of Roanoke, IL; Martha Lyons of
Roanoke, IL; Wanda Wilkey of Bloomington, IN; Pam Wilkey of Millis,
MA; 21 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; one great great
grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons
and one sister.
Violet worked as an activities aide at Maple Lawn
Homes for 22 years.
Violet was a member of D.A.R.-Daughters of the
American Revolution, Eureka United Methodist Church and Modern
Woodman of America.
She was an avid gardener all of her life. Violet was
a woman of great faith. She tirelessly was an advocate for
volunteering her services wherever needed .
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday,
August 20, 2013 at 11:30a.m. at the Eureka United Methodist
Church. Reverend Ron Martz will officiate. Visitation will be held
on Tuesday from 9:30-11:30a.m. at the Eureka United Methodist
Church. Private family burial will be held at Park Lawn Cemetery in
Danvers, IL. Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Eureka is
handling arrangements.
