William R. “Bill” Lockhart 89 of Washburn died Feb. 16, 2023 peacefully at his home where he has lived for 60 years. Born July 10, 1933, in Walker County AL to the late Cecil B. and Lois (O’Rear)Lockhart, he was raised by Lois and her second husband Curt Fuqua. He married Carole J. Jackson on April 11, 1953. She preceded him in death on May 21, 2019.
Bill worked for Caterpillar Co. for 30 Years retiring in 1987, He enjoyed many years of traveling-spending winters in Texas, Arizona, and California. He enjoyed gardening and working in his garage and yard. His greatest joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his children Robert of Sparland, Orland (Ethel) of Centralia, Karla (Ed) Cary of Missouri, Carole (Dave) Steele of Toluca, and Bill of Peoria, 12 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his brother Wallace, a daughter-in-law Vicki Lockhart, one grandson Jeremy, and one great grandson Blaine.
William served in the Army during The Korean War from 1953 to 1955
Funeral services will be held Monday February 20, 2023, at 11 O’clock at Lenz Memorial Home with visitation time one hour prior to the service. Memorials can be made to donor’s choice. Burial will be in the Lacon Cemetery and online condolences can be left at lenzmemorialhome.com
