Alex L. Kowalski, 94, of Lacon, formerly Cicero, died on June 27, 2021 at his residence. Born in Chicago on July 11, 1926 to the late John and Julia (Panszczyh) Kowalski, he married Rosella Parthun on August 16, 1945 in Chicago. Rose died on December 28 2010.
Al worked for over 20 years at Roth Rubber in Chicago, making all forms of rubber belts and belting. He also owned a Sunoco station for over 10 years at the corner of 35th and Central in Cicero which is sold when he received a job at the Chicago Sanitary District where he spent 30 years as an operator.
Al is survived by his son Michael (Marla) Kowalski of Lacon grandchildren Kim (Dominic) Whitham of Clark WY, Sue (John) Graham of Somonauk, Cathy (Steve) Eichhammer of Yorkville, Michael (Sarah) Kowalski of Lacon, Melissa (Eric) Head of Sparland, Tonya Kowalski of Decatur; 15 Great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his daughter Karen Wood, sons John and Randy Kowalski, grandson John Kowalski Jr., four brothers and one sister.
Visitation for Al will be held on Monday, July 5 from 5 to 7 PM at Lenz Memorial Home in Lacon with graveside services at 2 PM on July 6 at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Stickney Illinois. Memorial contributions can be made to the Kionania Food Pantry and online condolences can be left at lenzmemorialhome.com
