Hugh Max Kirkton
Gridley- Hugh Max Kirkton, 83 of 31453 Burt Ct. #13 Chenoa formerly of Gridley died at 3:00 am Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at Meadows Mennonite Home.
He was a member of the Meadows Mennonite Church where funeral services will be at 10:00 am Friday, January 13, 2006. Rev. John Heyerly and Rev. Steve Estes will officiate. Burial will be in Waldo Twp. Cemetery rural Gridley. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 Thursday at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home, El Paso and for one hour prior to services on Friday at his church. Memorial contributions may be directed to Meadows Mennonite Home, 24588 Church St., Chenoa,IL 61726.
Max was born May 10, 1922 at Waldo Twp., Livinston County a son of Hugh L and Jeannetta Drury. He married June Oyer on January 6, 1945 at Meadows Mennonite Church. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Sharon (and Bob) Hughes, Rochester,MN; three sons, James (and Vicky) Kirkton, Goshen,IN, Dean (and Susie) Kirkton, Henry, Rick (and Gay) Kirkton, Angola,IN; one brother, Roger (and Mary) Kirkton, Gridley; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Raegan Neal, and four brothers.
. He graduated from Gridley High School Class of 1940. He was a lifetime farmer in Waldo Township and served on the board of directors for the Livingston County Farm Service Company. He also served on the Waldo Township Board.
